Teen Café (TC) is a student run program where youth have the opportunity to plan events, vote on leadership, sit on a board of directors, and much more. Each month Teen Café members have a Town Hall Meeting where they discuss current events around the community, vote on issues, etc. Youth have the opportunity to help plan events YES students participate in. Students run for a position on the board of directors and are responsible for planning events, marketing, research, etc. Students also have the chance to get extra help with school-work and projects at our #Drop-In sessions each week. YES staff and tutors from local universities are on
hand to assist with any projects, homework, or study of subjects in which students are having difficulty. Students also have access to the office technology and supplies if needed.
Teen Café offers students the chance to develop their academic and leadership skills each week. This is also a program ideal for students looking to take action in planning different activities and having a voice in the organization.
Through Teens 4 Tech (T4T), students develop and
strengthen their computer literacy skills. Once a week,
YES is open for students to come in and gain more
knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud and
other aspects of technology. During the course of the
Spring semester, students are given a project that will
encompass all of the knowledge they gain during the
fall semester. Some of these sessions are facilitated by
YES student mentors.
