Teen Mentoring Certification Training
Teen mentoring certification training (TMCT) is a vital component of YES’ mentoring program and is designed to connect adolescents with resources to build their skills and their knowledge in the areas of mentorship.
TMCT cultivates prospective mentors to develop effective mentoring relationships, to understand the scope and limits of their role as mentors (and mentees), to advance competency in the area of motivating others, and to apprehend the concept of positive peer development.
TMCT’s primary objectives are to improve adolescents’ teamwork skills, to develop their cultural awareness and critical consciousness, to strengthen their sense of commitment to the community and to grow their confidence as they become certified teen mentor leaders.
Participants will become certified as peer mentor leaders. Prospective mentors will be cultivated to build mentoring and teamwork skills, develop effective mentoring relationships and promote positive peer development. Students will attend seven mentoring workshops, participate in horseback riding, swimming, sports and a talent show.
